BY TRAIN
It is not possible to get to San Giovanni Rotondo by train, because there is no rail. You can get to Foggia (good for those coming from the South of Italy) or San Severo (good for those coming from the North of Italy). They are about 40 and 26 km away from San Giovanni Rotondo, respectively. You can find train timetables on www.trenitalia.it. Once in Foggia or San Severo, you can take SITA buses www.sitabus.it.
BY COACH
Travelling by coach which goes all over Italy is also cheap and comfortable. The “Ferrovie del Gargano” coach is good for pilgrims coming from northern or central Italy (www.ferroviedelgargano.it; “Linee a Lungo Raggio”), whereas “Interbus” is advisable for the ones coming from the South or Sicily (www.interbus.it).
BY CAR
From the North: Take the A14 autostrada (San Severo exit) and drive towards San Giovanni Rotondo – Tomba di Padre Pio (Father Pio’s Tomb). When in San Giovanni Rotondo, drive towards the centre to get to Aldo Moro Street (Viale Aldo Moro). Our hotel is about 100 meters away from the New Church.
From the Centre: Take the A16 Napoli-Bari autostrada (Candela exit) and drive towards Foggia (about 32 km). Then, turn towards Gargano – Tomba di Padre Pio (Father Pio’s Tomb). When in San Giovanni Rotondo, turn left and drive straight on towards the Home for the Relief of Suffering (Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza – Santuario di Padre Pio). Turn right at the roundabout and drive towards the centre to Aldo Moro Street (Viale Aldo Moro). Our hotel is about 100 meters away from the New Church.
